Swindon Village played in the Albert Dix Football Tournament on Friday 13th October at Charlton Kings.
Our performance was very good. In the first match versus Springbank, we won 1-0 with Rueben scoring a terrific free kick. The second match was a very close contest versus Charlton Kings. With the score 2-0 in Charlton Kings' favour, at half time,Swindon Village showed resilience and great team work in the second half to get back to 2-1 through a great shot from Riley. Even though the game ended 2-1 to Charlton Kings, you could not fault our effort. The final match was versus Bishops Cleeve. Once again the team showed a determined spirit and great endeavour before losing out to a strong, technical team 5-0, which meant unfortunately we were knocked out.
This was a great experience for our team. A big thanks to the parents for your support which made it a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The players were a credit to the school and showed desire and commitment which bodes well for future matches.
