On Thursday 26th February, our Girls’ Football Team took part in the Premiership Rising Stars Regional Football Tournament at Swindon Town FC. Simply qualifying for this event is a remarkable achievement — for the team, for SVPS, and for Cheltenham Town FC. This is the third consecutive year we’ve earned a place in the tournament, which speaks volumes about the strength of girls’ football at SVPS and the fantastic teamwork our players show week after week.

We had a brilliant day of football. The girls played seven group matches, went unbeaten, and finished top of the group. Despite challenging winds, they adapted their play superbly and showed real composure and skill.

They then progressed to a closely fought semi-final, which remained level after extra time and went to penalties. In a nail‑biting finish, we were unfortunately edged out 4–3 by Oxford City — the team who went on to win the regional tournament and earn their place at nationals. Although the girls were understandably disappointed, they should feel incredibly proud of everything they have achieved together this season — and there is still more to come.

A huge well done to: Harriet, Arabella, Eleanor, Clara, Niamh, Sienna, Poppy and Aaliyah.
