On Monday 18th March our A Team took part in hockey tournament, at Pates Grammar School. We were in Group 1, and played extremely well, winning 4 and drawing 1 in our group matches.
Oli who dropped into goal, defended some amazing goal scoring chances by the opposition. He threw himself on the line to stop a ball going in, and was outstanding. Mia and Isaac put so much pressure on the opposition, with their ball dribbling skills and the way they used their hockey stick to get around their opponent was wonderful to see, not to mention the number of goals they scored. Aimee and Bella provided great midfield support in both attack and defence; they also added to the goal tally.
They won their group and progressed to the final. They were up against a strong St Marks side who also played some great hockey. The match was very close and SVPS put them under a lot of pressure. Unfortunately, we lost the match 3-2; some on pitch decisions went against us that affected the result. However, a silver medal for their achievement is well deserved. Even though they were disappointed, I hope they will feel very proud of their performance. Silver (2nd Place) is a great achievement.
Thank you to parents for all your support on the side lines. A very proud Mrs Brown 🙂
